A reader asks:

Will bright light therapy adversely affect someone with a pacemaker?

Answer:

No more than taking a walk outdoors 40 minutes after sunrise! Sounds like a good idea. However, light overdose sometimes causes palpitations, so if you go this route you should start with short sessions of ten to fifteen minutes and then build up the duration if this rare side effect doesn’t occur. And, obviously, you should keep your doctor in the loop.
